What we do with your images
Background Remover removes the background from images entirely within your browser, using an on-device AI model
(ISNet, via the open-source @imgly/background-removal library). A file you drop or select is
read directly into your browser's memory, processed there, and offered back to you as a download — it is
never transmitted to IMG.LY, to us, or to any other third party. You can verify this yourself using your
browser's developer tools (open the Network tab and watch outgoing requests while you process a file).
The AI model itself is downloaded from IMG.LY
Separately from your images, the first time you use this tool your browser downloads the AI model itself
(not your images — just the model's own weights, tens of megabytes) directly from IMG.LY's content delivery
network, the maintainer of the open-source @imgly/background-removal library this tool uses.
That request contains no information about you or your files. Every image you process afterward is handled
entirely locally, using that already-downloaded model.
No uploads, no storage
Because processing happens locally, we never receive, store, or have access to any image you process on this site — not even temporarily. Closing or refreshing the tab discards everything.
Open-source engine and source availability
This tool's background-removal engine is licensed under the AGPL-3.0. In compliance with that license, the complete source code of this tool is publicly available at github.com/GWANGUIAN/loomfile-remove-bg . See our About page for details.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (e.g. which pages are visited, approximate country of origin). This data is anonymized/aggregated and is not linked to any image you process on this site.
Advertising
This site may display advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings . For more information on how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services .
Cookies
This site itself does not set cookies for its background-removal tool to function. Third-party services we use (analytics, advertising, once enabled) may set their own cookies, governed by their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under regulations such as the GDPR or CCPA to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we do not collect the images you process, there is generally nothing of that nature to request. For questions, see our Contact page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
